Is there a 13th sign of the zodiac??

Astrology is based on the seasons and the relationships between the planets and not what sign is located behind the Sun when you were born. The zodiac signs are symbols that divide the year into 12 different and equal parts. The Cardinal signs – Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, for example, always herald a new season no matter where you are in the world. For example, Aries heralds the start of spring in the northern hemisphere and autumn in the southern hemisphere. We associate the cardinal signs with being leaders and catalysts for change – and they reflect that in the changing of our seasons. Then the fixed signs – Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius – are all in the middle of the season – when the time is more settled and routines and regularity can be established. Finally, we have the mutable signs – Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces – and these are the restless signs that need change and variety and they also represent learning – and they lead back into the Cardinal signs which indicate a whole change of season and direction. That’s why we are feeling such big changes globally and personally right now in the world because many of the major planets are moving into Cardinal signs. This means that the time for procrastination is over and it’s time for action.  

Astrology was developed by the Babylonians and during that time, the constellation of Aries happened to be situated right behind the sign Aries during the spring equinox. The actual star constellations are astrologically irrelevant to modern astrology. It is vital never to equate the signs of the zodiac with fixed star constellations. Fixed star constellations are configurations of stars that can be seen in the sky. Sun signs cannot be seen in the sky as they are mathematical divisions of the annual path of the Sun in the sky of exactly 30 degree size for each of the 12 signs.

Astrologers have known about the 13th constellation for eons. In the second century BC, the renowned astrologer and astronomer Ptolemy was fully aware of precession of the equinoxes. Still, he decided to give up star constellations and to let the zodiac begin with 0 degrees Aries. He did this because he believed that the actual constellations of fixed stars were not relevant for astrology and that the sun signs should be fixed at the cardinal points of the Sun’s annual path.

Astrologers have incorporated the earth’s wobble into their understanding of the connection between the stars and life on earth. If you have ever heard about the Age of Aquarius you may also know that this follows the Age of Pisces which was preceded by the Age of Aries. The Ages go backwards to compensate for the earth’s wobble.

So I hope this explains it for those of you who are still questioning whether you are a different sign. Relax, and know that nothing has changed. If you are an Aries you have not suddenly become a Pisces – I mean, how can a full blooded Aries possibly think twice about jumping into something exciting and new?? Gemini has not slipped back into being a Taurus. My Gemini friend is married to a Taurus, and he isn’t suddenly rushing around, jumping into new projects with great enthusiasm. He is still taking his time with everything and she has days when she feels as though she is dragging a ball and chain with her….but at least he brings stability into her life.

Full Moon in Leo – Time to Enjoy!

  • Plan a romantic day and focus on the things that you appreciate in your friends and the people you love
  • Focus on what you love about yourself – don’t wait for appreciation from others, appreciate your great qualities
  • If you don’t have a partner and you would like one, be clear about what your emotional needs are and set a clear intention to draw someone into your life who ticks the boxes
  • Play like a child or have fun with children
  •  Ignite your creativity: it could be with music, art, theatre, writing, designing, or developing a hobby into a business
  • Surround yourself with bright colours that uplift you e.g. reds, oranges, bright yellows
  • Take pride in your appearance
  • Promote yourself and your ideas in a new way. Think about where can you break free from old destructive behaviour patterns, what have you been putting off that you have always wanted to do?
  • It’s a good time to get yourself organised – Leo loves to organise and boss everyone around, but are you organised enough in your life so that you can achieve your goals?
  • Speak up for yourself – don’t allow yourself to be a doormat and communicate what is on your mind

While the Moon is in Leo, the Sun is in Aquarius and the Full Moon is all about achieving the balance between the two signs. Aquarius and Leo are all about balancing our personal needs with the desires of others.  

Aquarius is connected to the 11th house of friends, communities, groups and all our social networks. That includes all the popular and growing social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, forums, online groups, as well as the friends we make through blogs, articles and websites.

Leo needs full on personal attention and needs to be appreciated.  To fulfill the energies of this Full Moon, do something nice for a friend, a possible new friend, an old friend, or a group of friends. Even a small gesture such as a phone call, a lunch date, a tweet, a message, anything that says you’re important to me in my life, you’re my friend and I appreciate you in my life.

The Full Moon falls in my third house of teaching, promoting, networking and learning. Mercury Retrograde in Pisces February 6th

Mercury goes retrograde at 3 degrees Pisces on February 6th until the end of the month.

How can you use these energies wisely?

Because Mercury rules communication, transportation and technology, you may have some challenges in these areas during the retrograde. There could be delays and you could be frustrated about emails getting lost, a phone call that was promised not happening or adverse weather conditions affecting your travel plans.

Make sure you double-check all information you are given, repeat instructions and get everything in writing. During the last Mercury retrograde, my taxi arrived half an hour late to take me to the airport and as if that wasn’t enough, he took me to the wrong airport!

If you work with the energy, Mercury Retrograde can be a very rewarding time. As it’s in a Water sign, this is a time for listening more, for coming from your heart.

Go for a walk in nature, be near water, meditate and allow your mind to slow down. Do some journaling, listen to music, dance, take photographs, make films, do anything creative.

Try to become aware of any area in your life where you are deluding yourself, or where you are being unrealistic. For example, I had a client with Mercury in Pisces in the 4th house and she has had her property on the market for sale for over 6 months. She keeps telling herself that it’s a bargain and she can’t understand why there hasn’t been any interest in it. I told her to use this retrograde constructively and reflect on the reasons as to why it hadn’t sold. Was it priced right so it could sell, or was she dreaming of the impossible? Was her realtor putting enough energy into selling the property? Maybe she should change realtor?

I told her not to take any action until Mercury goes direct at the beginning of March, but to use this time for quiet reflection, reassessment and realignment of what she wants to achieve.

Depending on where this Mercury retrograde is falling in your chart, this will show you which life area needs to be re-evaluated or reworked. In my chart, it falls in my 9th house which is the house of publishing. I am in the process of writing another book, and Mercury retrograde periods are always good times for writing as the mind slows down and can articulate thoughts more easily. And with Neptune touching this transit, anything connected with astrology and metaphysics is favourable.

It’s a wonderful time for completing things that have already been started. I’ve been working on an upgrade of my website for the last few weeks and it’s going to go live during the Mercury retrograde. Because people’s thinking processes are not quite as clear during Mercury retrograde, it will be the perfect time to correct any kinks in it.

I don’t know about you, but I’m already feeling the effects of this retrograde. This morning I had an appointment with someone and when I called her to find out where she was there was no reply. I called a half hour later and I heard a sleepy voice at the end of the line apologising saying she had overslept…

Where is it in your chart and how will it affect you?

Aries
Be careful about sharing your innermost thoughts and feelings as there could be misunderstandings. If you have any important business to accomplish, e.g. signing a contract, make sure you have everything in writing, that you have triple-checked it and that you have printed hard copies of everything.  Spend time alone, relax and recharge your batteries.

Taurus
This is a good time to meet up with old friends. Take time to really listen to them and focus on coming from your heart. You may have an opportunity to see an old relationship in a new light and to find a deeper bond between you. Reflect on your goals and dreams and make sure you have paper and pen by the bed as your dreams will guide you towards your next steps.

Gemini
There could be confusion in the workplace, so make sure you have kept impeccable records of all discussions. Reflect on what you want in your career and reconsider your next steps. An old boss or work colleague may get in touch with you and offer you a new opportunity.

Cancer
This is a great time to research a new course of study. Re-examine your educational qualifications and see if there are any extra skills you need to learn. Writing, journaling and publishing are under excellent aspects. Think about your dream destination for that special trip and start connecting with people in that country.

Leo
Be careful about signing any important contracts, especially anything involving finances as you may have to repeat or revise something when Mercury goes direct in March. Re-evaluate everything connected to your finances: your banking arrangements, your pension, your insurance etc. This is a wonderful time for deep meditation and for studying anything in the metaphysical field.  

Virgo
You may experience miscommunications in your relationships. Try to give people the benefit of the doubt as their thinking processes are not as sharp as usual. Don’t take things too personally and try to listen to the message behind the words. This will help you to achieve greater closeness in your relationships.

Libra
There could be confusion in your workplace and this would be a great time to use your diplomatic abilities to smooth ruffled feathers. Make sure your diet is healthy and that you don’t relapse into old unhealthy habits. Re-evaluate your exercise regime and anything connected with your health.

Scorpio
This is a great time for anything that gets your creative juices going. Anything connected with the arts, dance, music, doing things with your hands is under positive aspects. If you are in business for yourself, this is a good time to research new products and services that you can add when Mercury goes direct.

Sagittarius
Communications related to family members or issues around the home could be confused or delayed. Use this time to go inward and to find quiet space on your own. By the beginning of March you will be ready to take action.

Capricorn
You may experience travel delays so make sure you allow extra time for getting to important meetings. This is a great time for research, for study, for getting to the bottom of a situation.

Aquarius
Make sure you are being realistic about your finances. Avoid buying big ticket items as they may be faulty or you might not like them any more when Mercury goes direct. If you do purchase something, keep the receipt and warranty.

Pisces
Relax, rest, take time out. Meditation will be very powerful at this time as the Pisces energy will bring answers to issues that are concerning you. Focus on your heart energy and be kind to yourself. Listen to what your body is wanting and give it the love it is craving.

Most of all, trust your intuition and if it doesn’t feel right, don’t do it.

 

Astrology Predictions for 2014-2015

With the Cardinal Climax still very active this year, I am anticipating 2014 to be a year of sudden and powerful changes both globally and personally. The Cardinal Climax began in 2008 which was the beginning is perhaps one of the most significant astrological configurations that will ever affect us in our lifetime.

As we can see, there have been huge world changes since then.

Let me outline just a few of them:

  • The Central Banks have more power than ever before
  • The Federal Reserve brought down interest rates to almost 0%
  • Quantitative Easing or money-printing has become the new norm
  • Disputes over taxes and tax reforms have escalated
  • Movements to unseat leaders continue, including the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak in Egypt and the stepping down of Muammar Gaddafi in Libya
  • Cyber-spying is rampant with the revelations that the NSA has been regularly unlawfully spying on its citizens
  • We’ve seen earth changes escalate with earthquakes and tsunamis causing whole continents to shift

What does the future look like as we near the end of the Cardinal Climax?

I see two diametrically opposed scenarios playing out:
– Worldwide debt reaches its limit, the financial system panics and the stock market crashes
– Governments shut down and default on their debts
OR
– Leaders in business, banking and government start to behave with transparency instead of secrecy, working hard to restore peoples’ trust in them
– Political leaders make compromises to reduce debt levels
– Businesses are rewarded for hiring people and not penalized

It could go either way. There could be a turnaround from the oppressive economic activities of the last 6 years or an escalation of the same practices.

With 3 planets going retrograde one after the other from the beginning of 2014, (Venus retrograde during January, Mercury retrograde in February, and Mars retrograde from March until May), I am anticipating leaders will change their minds quickly, bankers will change their policies unexpectedly, markets will reverse because of greater uncertainty.

President Obama
As I predicted last year, with transiting Neptune square to his natal Moon, there is the possibility of scandal, deception and misleading behaviour and his trustworthiness could be put into question. There could be damage to his reputation and he needs to make sure that he does everything above board.

This aspect is a hard one because the Moon represents his public image. Not just Americans feel betrayed by him, but also Germany, Israel, Saudi Arabia, to name but a few, by his reversals and failure to communicate with them.

Transiting Jupiter will be conjunct his Sun in September 2014. This could be a high point in his career, but it could also mean that he goes to extremes. His reputation could be severely tarnished especially when Saturn is opposite his natal Moon and square to natal Pluto in 2015.

The main thing is that he needs to be honest. If he can do this, he will be able to salvage his reputation. If not, he will fall from grace and leave office with his reputation in tatters.

Stock Market
I predicted that the stock market would crash in 2013 and I was wrong. I had failed to understand the powerful impact of Pluto in Capricorn on Central Banking intervention in the financial markets. I didn’t realise it would distort the markets to such a degree. I had no idea how far and how deeply the powers that be could manipulate the markets. With the strong influence of Pluto in Capricorn in mutual reception to Saturn in Scorpio, this had led to the infinite printing of money out of thin air. This looks set to continue at least for the next year or so indicating that the stock markets are set to rise for the foreseeable future.

What to invest in and what to avoid:
Jupiter moves back and forth between Cancer and Leo in 2014. The sign Jupiter is in shows the stock sectors more likely to outperform the general market.

Jupiter in Cancer until July 16th, 2014 indicates the stock sectors that are likely to benefit are: housing, hotels, motels, restaurants, anything connected with families and homes, food, drink, caretaking.

Jupiter in Leo from July 17th 2014 until August 11th 2015 favours children’s games and toys, games, gaming companies, leisure, entertainment industry, gambling, anything connected to children, gold mining, romance, love and the dating industry.
The position of Saturn tends to show those sectors that will decline in price. With Saturn in Scorpio until almost the end of 2014, the sectors most likely to be affected by declines are: banks, insurance companies, investment companies, security companies, waste management, funeral services, oil and gas companies, medical and surgical suppliers.

As long as the Fed continues to intervene in financial markets, stock prices will increase. I doubt they will stop QE in the forseeable future, so stocks are likely to continue rising. If the Dow Jones Index falls below 13000, this could mark a bearish shift in the market.

Gold and Silver
The Federal Reserve may taper its bond and securities purchases, thus pushing up interest rates and resulting in the falling of the price of gold.

If, however, we see increasing political upheaval and a greater social unrest, which I am anticipating, this would support a rise in the price of gold.

With Jupiter in Cancer and in Leo, which represent silver and gold respectively, and with Mars going into Scorpio from July 25th until September 13th, 2014, this could be a time of a strong rally for precious metals since Mars in Scorpio is a good predictor of a surge in the price of gold and silver.

In the long run, however, gold and silver prices will soar. As to exactly when, depends on how long the manipulators can control the markets. Once there is a breakdown in trust and a market panic, everyone will turn to gold. Right now it is a bargain. If you have any spare money, buy a small amount of both gold and silver. Keep buying more each time the price dips. At some point, I am still confident that gold will trade above $3000 USD an ounce and silver will be at $100 per ounce.

Weather Changes
I predicted last year that with so many planets in water signs that we would see flooding, heavy rains, tornadoes, and great destruction from water. We saw flooding in so many places around the world: in Colorado, throughout much of Europe, in Canada, the devastating floods in Jakarta, Indonesia, in Thailand, and more recently, Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, to name but a few.

With Jupiter in Cancer for almost 7 months of the year, Saturn still in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces, I am anticipating more issues around water and flooding again this year.

With Jupiter in Leo from July 16th, especially with the square to Saturn in Scorpio, I think this could result in extreme heat, widespread fires, and heat in areas where it is least expected.

With Uranus playing such a central role in Aries triggering the Cardinal Cross, I anticipate extreme temperature changes, earthquakes, tsunamis, power outages and general weather and earth changes.

During Mars Retrograde from March 2nd until May 20th is not the best time to start something new e.g. a job, a house move.
It is not a good time to initiate a dispute as the person who is the aggressor usually loses.
Mars rules surgery so if you have any elective surgery, try to schedule it before or after the Mars retrograde.
This will be a wonderful time for people in the repair business, especially anything connected with mechanical or technical breakdowns. So many people’s systems will break down at this time and their services will be in great demand.

Conclusion
During these tumultuous times of the Cardinal Climax we have a unique opportunity to bring about personal and global changes that will change our world for the better.
These difficult aspects can help to bring about much-needed changes as we cannot continue to destroy our planet as we have been doing. The trine between Jupiter, Neptune and Saturn is still in play, giving us a window of opportunity to create the kind of world where love and peace prevail.

Buy low, sell high – Gold going up and Grand Cross coming

Gold has dropped in price over recent months while many stock markets have posted all-time highs. What’s going on? Vast amounts of money have been pumped into the system, the media wants us to believe that we are out of a global recession and people are beginning to believe them! Investors are looking for yields on their money as interest rates are at almost zero in most western countries and they are turning to the stock markets for leverage on their funds. How long is this pattern likely to continue?

Judging by the astrological aspects, we are at a turning point. We’ve had all the positive effects of the Grand Trine and also the Star of David but they are now waning and instead oppositions and squares are being triggered which indicate much harder times ahead. Pluto, Jupiter and Uranus are making a powerful T-square, which indicates that things are going to get shaken up. Everything will become even more erratic and making money as a trader during these next 8 months will be a very difficult task.

The most important addition to this T-square is that between now and next spring, a Grand Cross is going to be activated. Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars will transit through Libra which is the final cardinal sign in this intense line-up of planets.

The opposition of Pluto and Jupiter happens every 13-14 years. We are now entering  the peak of this powerful cycle. It all started with the conjunction of Pluto and Jupiter in December 2007. This was the start of the collapse of the financial system which resulted in the failure of sub-prime markets, the recession, interest rates going to zero, and of course, the banks managed to save themselves. But savers, people who depended on some interest on their money were completely annihilated.

I have said all along that gold will go up in price. This is a temporary down which is a great buying time. Nothing ever goes up in a straight line and gold is no exception to this, but with these upcoming aspects, I am more convinced than ever, that precious metals will increase in price exponentially over the next months and years ahead.

Right now, with gold at around USD$1300.00 per ounce, it looks very cheap. You will look back on this in the not too distant future and say to yourself, boy, gold was so inexpensive then, why didn’t I buy some? If you cannot afford to buy gold, then get a little silver which is very affordable at about USD$20.00 per ounce. Remember not to buy stocks or paper certificates. Make sure you buy the actual gold and silver coins that you can hold in your hand.

Be careful about leaving any amount of money in a bank because laws are in the making that could make it difficult for you to get your money out, let alone any interest on it. This is going to apply to small savers as well as those with large amount of money to protect. In the EU, there is a proposal on the table allowing customers to withdraw a maximum of maybe 100 Euros a day in case of a bank failure. This could last for up to a month! Largely unnoticed by the public at large, the EU is pushing forward laws in the event of a banking collapse. The writing is on the wall. Make sure you have some gold and/or silver in case you need it to survive on during these erratic times ahead. People often say to me, you can’t eat gold. And of course they are right. But gold and silver are negotiable. You have something tangible that you can sell if times get rough. If you have paper money, the value can drop to zero overnight and you can be left with nothing at all. Be prepared. Better to be a year early than a day late.

New Moon in Libra, October 4/5th 2013

Once a year, we have a New Moon in Libra. This is a wonderful opportunity to look at all your relationships and see how you can achieve more balance and harmony. This includes not only your relationships with other people, but also your relationship with yourself, your money, your health, your work, your spirituality.

This New Moon at 11 degrees of Libra is extremely intense because it is activating a Grand Cross in the heavens.

Added to this mix, Mercury is now in Scorpio, and we are seeing the stubbornness of opposing factions in US politics who couldn’t come to an agreement. This resulted in the shutdown of the US government. The US is building up towards a crisis. If the parties cannot come to an agreement before October 17th about the debt ceiling, we will see shock waves reverberate around the world that will undoubtedly affect the global economy.

With oppositions and squares in cardinal signs, we’re going to see actions that stimulate a crisis.

The polarisation in the heavens is playing out in US politics.

Where is this polarisation occurring in your life? What parts of yourself do you need to accept and love and stop fighting with them? What needs to be integrated?

Out of every crisis can be the seeds of an opportunity.

The square from this New Moon to Pluto will probably trigger some intense emotions within you and this is a great time to examine your relationships and see if anything is out of balance. What or whom to you need to let go of in order to start afresh?

With this New Moon, this is a great time to plant intentions in your relationships. Because Libra is ruled by Venus there will be an increased desire for love, harmony and peace in your life at this time.

Good questions to ask yourself are: How can I have more balance in my relationships?
How can I find more beauty in the world around me?
How do I nurture, love, give and receive love?

Some of your relationships may be tested.  Some may drift away, with others you may make stronger bonds. If this New Moon is occurring in your 7th house of relationships, you might have to be blunt, more direct with someone. Libra doesn’t like conflict and much prefers nicey nicey, but you may have to risk the relationship and say what is on your mind.

We are in the build-up to the eclipse season when on October 18th and November 3rd we’ll have a lunar eclipse in Aries and a solar eclipse in Scorpio, so events are accelerating and picking up speed. I’ll go into more detail about the eclipses over the next few months, but with the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse coming up in 2 weeks in Aries, both Libra and Aries will be activated in your chart.

Look at them as a pair. For example, if your 1st and 7th houses are being stimulated, your identity and how you relate to others will be the main theme.

In my chart, my 2nd and 8th houses are being triggered, so I’m looking at my values and my priorities. I am looking at enhancing the one room that I am living in. For the last several months, instead of curtains, I have used some pieces of material that I hang up every night on nails on the window frames. The lighting in the room isn’t really sufficient for long periods of work and study, and I would really like a carpet to take the chill off the floor. These are things that will improve the way I feel in my room and are a priority for me now. They won’t cost much, but they will make a difference in the way I feel, so they are worth doing. They haven’t been a priority before, but with this New Moon in Libra coming up, they are now!

If it’s activating your 3rd and 9th houses, it will relate to communication, local events, anything having to do with the law and court cases.

If it’s activating your 4th and 10th houses, you will have an opportunity to re-evaluate your home life, your stability, the people close to you and balance this with your career and your work.

In your 5th and 11th houses, it could affect your children, your business if you are self employed, dealing with large groups of people or on a team.

For your 6th and 12 houses, it could affect your health, your work, anything on a subconscious plane, your dreams, and any unresolved inner conflicts.

Libra craves beauty and harmony. Do something uplifting. It’s a good time to do anything artistic, creative, go to the movies, the theatre, a concert, make something beautiful, give someone a flower.

Reach out and make eye contact with as many people as you can. Smile from your heart at them and give them a feeling of appreciation and love. It really doesn’t matter whether you get a smile back, what’s most important is that you are reaching out to others and connecting, no matter who they are. In this process, you will feel much better inside of yourself.

Even though it may not always seem like it, we are all connected. Each day, as I go about my business, I try to see that spark of divinity in everyone I meet. No matter who I am interacting with, I am looking for the best in them and am sending them positive energy and love. This has made such a huge difference to my relationships.

And at the end of every day, just before I go to sleep, I evaluate my day and go over every single encounter. I ask myself, what could I have done better? What would I have done differently? By doing this before sleep, I find that I wake up with an increased awareness of my surroundings and the people I meet.
